Global Missions
As those who have been commissioned by our Lord to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Mt. 28:19) and called to show Christ's compassion and love to the poor, the sick, the oppressed and all those in need (Matt. 25:31-45), Germantown Presbyterian is committed to being a missional church.
As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), we share in the total mission and work of our denomination in presbytery, synod and General Assembly. Through benevolent giving, we support the mission of the whole Church at home and around the world. We are engaged in partial support of a mission couple in Natal, Brazil, and have a "twinning relationship" and hands-on ministry with a Russian Evangelical Baptist Church in Surgut, Siberia.

Haiti Mission Trip a Great Success
by Leigh Powers
On April 30, the five-member GPC Livi ng Waters for the World mission team of Chris Ham, Evelyn Mosley, Phil Mosley, Leigh Powers and Lance Warren left for its destination of Haiti to install a water purification system in Montrouis and to check on a previously installed water system in Gonaives.
In Montrouis we partnered with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to install a water purification system for use by the church and school. We also visited Gonaives, Haiti where we helped to install a water purification system in October 2008. The water purification system at St. Basile Parish in Gonaives is fully operational, and it was very exciting to see students filling up water bottles with clean water via the water fountains that were installed in 2008. It truly was a blessing to see the school in Gonaives running so well following the devastation the entire town experienced after the 2008 hurricanes. In both Montrouis and Gonaives, we held several trainings with groups of both students and community representatives to reinforce health and hygiene messages related to germs and water. The covenant with our partners in Haiti through Living Waters for the World is for a three-year period where GPC commits to continue our relationship with them. Our goal is to help ensure that the water purification system not only provides clean water to the students and community, but also becomes a self-sustaining micro-business for our partner churches.
In all of our messages and conversations with our friends in Haiti, we stressed that we were simply five representatives of a 900-member church who prays for them and who believes that all God’s children deserve clean water. Many of the students and adults approached us to thank all of GPC for their prayers, love and support.
The mission team wants to thank GPC for their prayers during the trip – it is an honor to be part of this special mission team and a church that shows God’s love through such an important mission project as Living Waters for the World!
