Stephen Ministry

Have you recently lost a loved one or been through a divorce? Maybe you’re new to the area and feeling alone, perhaps you’re experiencing anger or frustration over a family matter or job loss. Have you been diagnosed with a serious condition or are you feeling isolated or depressed?
Everyone, at some time in his/her life, could benefit from someone who can listen with compassion and provide distinctively Christian caring without judgment or pressure. Germantown Presbyterian Church can provide that help through our Stephen Ministry program. Each Stephen Minister is extensively trained and sworn to confidentiality. Might you or someone you care for need a Stephen Minister? If so, help is available to all GPC members and the wider community.
You may be having a difficult time in your life. You may be going through an illness, the hospitalization of yourself or a loved one, the loss of a loved one, unemployment, divorce or some other difficult experience. If you think you would like to talk to a Stephen Minister, or want to learn more about these compassionate, confidential listeners, please call Barbara Armstrong at 901-754-9319.
The mission of Stephen Ministries is to help congregations equip God's people for spiritual growth and Christ-centered, practical ministry in today's world.
Bear one another's burdens, and in this way,
you will fulfill the law of Christ.
- Galatians 6:2
Stephen Ministry is a care-giving ministry composed of lay people from our congregation. Stephen Ministers are trained to assist people in times of need: divorce, death of a loved one, illness, depression, loss of job, and concerns with aging. Stephen Ministers comfort, listen to, pray for and with and encourage those who receive their care.
Stephen Ministry is a Christian care-giving organization, founded in 1975 and based in St. Louis, Missouri. The organization provides training and resources to more than 57,000 care-givers in over 8,000 congregations worldwide.
