As a Friend in Christ you will:
Warmly welcome the new members into our church family with a phone call or personal introduction. Inform the new members that their picture (taken during the new member class) will be posted in the downstairs Sunday school hallway, the hallway leading from Warren Hall to the Library and published in The Vine. If they haven’t already filled out the New Member Questionnaire, please encourage them to do it, as soon as possible. This questionnaire was distributed at the new member class and is also accessible on the church website, www.GermantownPres.org/NewMembers.
Help new members become active in the GPC community through use of the Sowing the Seed volunteer survey. You will be provided with the activities and contact persons (plus telephone numbers) in which the new members expressed an interest. For example, if an interest is shown in the Stephen Ministry you will contact Kathy McCoy and she will contact the new member.
Introduce the new members to your church friends and other members whenever possible (such as at church services and Sunday school classes) and invite the new members to Bible Studies, Disciple classes, special programs, fellowship groups, etc. Look for and welcome the new members at church functions. An invitation to an activity outside of the church is optional (lunch after church, a play, concert, a walk in the park).
Contact Laurie Henderson in the church office (901-754-5195) if you are aware of any problems, such as illness, that arise.
Maintain contact with the new members for approximately three months, remembering the goal of this program is for the new members to feel connected to the church. Please update the team leader. Make sure the family is receiving the church newsletter, The Vine.
