youth ministry

"Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose."

- Philippians 2:1-2

 The Youth Ministry is guided by three areas of emphasis:

Spiritual Nurturing: Young people are encouraged to grow spiritually as individuals and as the community of faith through Bible study and Christian living
(Ephesians 4:14-16).

Mission and Service: Young people are encouraged to grow in mission and service to God, their families, the community and the world, recognizing that true service is done by God's strength and for His glory (1 Peter 4:11).

Fellowship: Young people are encouraged to build unity and cohesiveness within the community of faith through programs of fellowship, study, worship and service (1 John 1:1-3).

During the program year (September-May):

Sunday School Classes challenge young people to study the Bible and participate in open discussions that make faith relevant to their lives.
Grades 6-8 meet in rooms below Evans Chapel, and Grades 9-12 meet in the youth room above the Activity Center. Sunday School runs from  9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

Youth Choir is open to all students grades 6-12. We meet on Sundays from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the Choir Room.

Sunday Evening Fellowship brings youth together for Christian spiritual nurturing, mission and service projects and recreational group building. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. in the Activities Center. Junior High and Senior High both meet for dinner and Sunday night program until 7:00 p.m.

LOGOS provides additional opportunities for young people to develop and cultivate Christian relationships through Bible study, fellowship, recreation, worship and prayer. This program includes a family-style dinner at 6 p.m. We meet on Wednesdays  5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

During the Summer:

Midweek fellowship and Bible study for all youth. Tuesdays at noon in the Activity Center.

Mission trips: Junior and Senior Highs spend up to a week in service to others, building group unity and developing a greater understanding of their own faith.

Montreat Youth Conference: GPC youth gather each summer in North Carolina for a week with young people from around the country for worship, keynote addresses, small group activities and recreation.

Parents and Adult Members:

If you would like to volunteer to help out with GPC Youth Ministries and programs, we have several opportunities available. Some examples are:
  • Cooking or providing a meal for the youth on a Sunday night (menus and kitchen space in the Activity Center are provided);
  • Hosting a youth function (D Group meeting, Souper Bowl Party, etc.);
  • Volunteering to be a Confirmation mentor;
  • Helping to lead a D group or Fellowship Group.
There are many ways for you to serve beyond those listed above. If you would like more information about Youth Ministry at GPC, please contact Blake Hudson.
