CUB SCOUTS

Cub Scout Pack 367 has been part of the Germantown Presbyterian Church community for almost 30 years, and during that time has introduced many young boys to the fun and excitement of Cub Scouts. Under the Boy Scouts of America, and as a member of the Eastern District of the Chickasaw Council, Cub Scout Pack 367 offers boys in grades 1 through 5 the opportunity to learn by doing.

Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen right here in both den and pack meetings. Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy’s sense of belonging.

Pack 367 meets at Germantown Presbyterian Church on Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. Annual events include camp-outs like Scoutbase, Akela Cub, and Webelos Woods as well as our own Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Banquet, Spring Camping Trip, Scouting for Food Drive and the Germantown Holiday Parade.

If you would like more information about Pack 367 here at Germantown Presbyterian Church, contact Chad Davis by email.

Our pack serves Scouts from Germantown Elementary, Dogwood Elementary, Riverdale Elementary, Oak Forest Elementary and surrounding areas.

BOY SCOUTS

Boy Scout Troop 270 has been fortunate to be united with Germantown Presbyterian Church, as our charter organization, since the beginning of May 2008. Although with GPC a relatively short period of time, Troop 270 has experienced a great deal of growth and success since being founded 15 years ago. We currently have over 50 boys, ranging from ages 11 thru 17 as well as a large contingent of dedicated adult leaders. We are also proud to have many members of GPC among our ranks.

Boy Scouts provides an environment for maturing and learning under role models of adults and older boys for the purpose of developing character and leadership, as well as learning one’s duty to God and country. For our troop, that environment not only includes weekly meetings but many team building and skill development activities throughout the year. Typical annual events include backpacking, climbing, canoeing, skiing, white water rafting, Camporee, and our annual Thanksgiving Feast at Wall Doxey State Park. We also plan an annual high adventure trip to one of three national Boy Scout destinations consisting of backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, canoeing at Northern Tier Boundary Waters in Minnesota, or snorkeling/sailing at the Florida Sea Base.

Troop 270 meets throughout the year at Germantown Presbyterian Church on Monday nights at 7:00 pm in the Church Activity Center. Any and all are welcome to visit, or you can contact Scoutmaster Chris Alley or Committee Chair Kirk Muskina, for more information.

GPC’s Chartered Organization Representative (COR) is Bob Pitts. Our COR is the direct contact between the scouting units (367 & 270) and the chartered organization (GPC). The COR is also the liaison to the Eastern District and Chickasaw Council of BSA and is responsible for helping promote rewarding programming, effective recruiting and organization, and qualified leadership within the units. You can also contact Bob here about GPC’s scouting program or at 737-2179.

We welcome new members anytime of the year.
