On Saturday, September 3, 2022 (the Saturday before Labor Day), St. George’s Episcopal Church, Germantown United Methodist Church, Germantown Presbyterian Church, and New Bethel Baptist Church are joining together to serve the community in a Labor of Love!
Partnering with MidSouth Food Bank, Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) and The Outreach Program, we will give our congregations the choice of several ministry opportunities to serve our neighbors in need:
(1) bringing diapers, incontinence or feminine hygiene supplies to Germantown United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall for MidSouth Food Bank’s Bare Needs Diaper Bank – which will distribute those supplies as needed in the community;
(2) packaging ready-to-prepare meals which will be given to MidSouth Food Bank for distribution to those in our community who are in need (to be held at St. George’s); and
(3) delivering shelf-stable meals to several routes of MIFA clients.
We will gather on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. at St. George’s for a time of reflection and prayer together. From that time of shared community, we will roll up our sleeves and share our love with our sisters and brothers.
Please note that for meal packaging: We will be masked, and we will check temperatures for those who are packaging meals.
We will follow MIFA’s protocols for delivery of shelf-stable meals. Sign up is required for delivery of shelf-stable meals to MIFA clients, as is the completion of a MIFA volunteer form. Here’s the link to signup for meal delivery.
If you are unable to serve on September 3, you can still support Labor of Love by bringing diapers, incontinence products or feminine hygiene products; you may drop off those items at the Fellowship Hall at Germantown United Methodist Church during normal office hours, Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), or on Sundays (9:00 a.m. until noon)!
We look forward to another great year of serving our neighbors – in Labor of Love!
