Germantown Presbyterian Church welcomed Carolyn Mason as church organist in May of 2005. Before coming to GPC Carolyn was for 2 years the organist at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Memphis, Tennessee and for 10 years the Organist/Associate Director of Music for the First Methodist Church, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Carolyn earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with emphasis in piano and organ from Arkansas Tech, Russellville, and a Master of Music in Accompanying from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg.
Carolyn is a member of the Memphis chapter of the American Guild of Organists and has certification for Service Playing and Colleague. She is also a member of Presbyterian Association of Musicians. Carolyn says one of the reasons for joining the staff of GPC is because of “the rich tradition of excellent music and worship”.
She enjoys planning worship and being able to resource music for various instrumental and vocal ensembles.
She explains, “it enables my creativity to flourish.” At GPC Carolyn serves as the handbell director for two bell choirs.
